Wow! Time Flies

Wow, how time flies!

I can't believe my son is already a year old, the holidays are here and I'm already thinking about Fall 12 designs! I do admit, I love the holidays. I love the music, decor, gift wrapping, and of course the parties. I love to dress up and add more shimmer to my life whether it be on my table, or my clothing. I also love this time of year because we have lots of cashmere. Make sure to check out the new designs.

It's also time to do some cleaning. It's time to clear out the office and prepare for next season, clear out the kids toys and get them donated, and clear out the warehouse. Stay tuned for some sales where you all can help me with that.

It's always very exciting to bring in new merchandise and make sure to sign up on both our website and our fb page so we can stay in touch. 2012 is going to be a great year filled with lots of new products, including more cashmere items!

Decisions, Decisions

School is starting, Halloween is coming, the holidays are just around the corner. How did we get here? How is it possible my baby boy is 9 months tomorrow? Is it really time for Halloween costumes? I’m still getting over having to buy school supplies. It's such a busy time for Lucky Jade and for all of us parents out there. I think we all embrace the beginning of school with open arms. No more lazy summer days. It's go time...

Yes, my daughter’s costume has been purchased and she’s now rallying for what the boy should be. He will be nearly a year, so I feel it’s the last time I can put him in a costume of my choosing. Decisions, decisions. Should I go for the sock monkey (daughter’s choice) or Tigger (my choice)?

I really can’t believe that with all I have going on in my life that I even worry about this stuff, but, yes, I do. And I have to say I thoroughly enjoy it. I love gathering all the proper accessories for Halloween, or any occasion that is!

Thank goodness for all the great costumes that are available now. My daughter peruses the costume catalogs like I read Vanity Fair.

a horse of course

I heart design. I’m inspired by lots of things…packaging, photographs, billboards. When designing for Lucky Jade, I’m always looking for a new animal or theme that can be seamlessly included in the collection. This fall it’s our new endearing horse in our Hopeful Horses group. A soft and sophisticated design, with just the right amount of pattern and color.

What inspires you? I especially like walking around farmers markets looking at all the beautiful fruits and vegetables and smelling the sweet summer fruits we are so lucky to have in sunny California. I’m also very influenced by the city. I so enjoy a drive through downtown Los Angeles soaking up some urban life.

It’s funny how we can often find inspiration with just the things around us that we look at everyday. It just depends on the day that we choose to see something new.

baby food(ies)

Are all these blended and gourment baby foods turning our babies into foodies already? If my son sees Tyler Florence’s Sprout Organic food pouches coming his way he goes nuts. His favorite is the peach rice pudding. I’m starting to rock my Beaba baby food maker, but I don’t always time so I’m really happy to have some great and healthy food choices out there. In fact, we even have an entire drawer devoted to baby food in our house.

But I do have a question…why are most baby foods the same color? I feel like everything I make or open is a yucky squash yellow, not a pretty Martha Stewart squash yellow. Oh well…

My top picks for baby food so far are Sprout Organic and Plum Organics. Both offer unique flavors and blends in spite of their unfortunate yellow color. I think the boy proves my point, in fact he loves them so much he blew through eight containers yesterday. Yes, indeed, he is a foodie.

time after time

Time is the most precious thing we have. Time with our parents, friends and children. Time to travel and see the world. Time to teach our children what life is really about. I find myself saying “I don’t have time” and I’m trying to correct that. After all, we won’t be here forever.

After the birth of my second child, I realized that it was time for me to chill out a bit. After a c-section and countless sleepness nights, I just couldn’t do everything I was used to. I found myself just holding the baby and staring at him. I was actually able to push work out of my mind. Amazing I thought.

Now I’m back in my groove, and here I am again. My daughter has asked me two great questions: “what’s my favorite part of the day and why?” I answered “early in the morning when the house is quiet, my mind is fresh, and my coffee is piping hot”. I have realized that when I get my time in the morning and I can refresh that I’m a better person and parent. She has also asked me “would you go back in time or to the future?” and I answered “I would go back in time because then I could learn and predict the future”. She is still young and has no idea what this means. I love when I can take the time to analyze how she looks at the world.

Take the time to enjoy the sunsets, walks with the dogs, and the laughter and smiles from all of those around us. There is nothing more inspiring than a kid’s laugh!

I wish I was a minimalist

In my dreams I live in a spotless, modern house with gleaming white furniture, design books stacked perfectly on sleek shelves, and shiny silver picture frames hang in perfect harmony on my walls. Oh yeah, then I wake up, trip over my son’s Exersaucer, pick Polly Pocket outfits from between my toes and experience the endless search for the pacifiers. All this, amongst the sounds of the baby crying and the dog pacing on the hardwood floors.

I am not neat, I like stuff. I’m creative, so I like to look at stuff too. It’s an endless battle we all face. I’m always searching for the latest greatest storage bins and boxes. I can wander around the Container Store for hours. I have dozens of tote bags that I use and stash my stuff in, and now my daughter does the same thing. Is that a bad thing?

What’s my solution to this daily dilemma that is really driving me crazy? I think the first thing is embrace the fact that I like stuff and find the items that are the most important to me. Next…Who knows…stay tuned.

the days of summer

I love summer! It’s the time to relax and enjoy your friends and family. My daughter often asks me why adults don’t have summer vacation too…hmmm. I’m lucky enough to live at the beach in sunny Southern California and it was so beautiful here this past 4^th of July weekend.

My baby visited the beach for the first time and we enjoyed watching him experience the feel of sand for the first time and hear the crashing of the waves. I swam in the ocean with the kids for the first time in a while and had a blast. I forgot what it was like to misjudge a wave and get beaten down under the water though!

Summer seems to bring everyone together. Endless beach days, barbeques, and concerts in the park are the anchors. We all seem to be able to take a break from our crazy lives and mobile devices and just relax and enjoy what’s around us. It continues to teach me that time is precious and irreplaceable.

Baby #2…wow…it’s been a little crazy here at Lucky Jade. I was cruising along with my only child, my eight year old daughter, and then my son came along last November. My, how I forgot the joys of the little smiles and coos. So precious. I have had to welcome all the baby stuff back into my life…the good, the bad, and the bright plastic!

Now I’m even more inspired to design. I had a blast doing the nursery and I designed fall 2011 while I was pregnant. It’s funny how pregnancy brings on new ideas! I am excited to share my experiences as a mom, running my company, as well as my funny life experiences along the way.

Baby Chai Coming Soon

Baby Chai by Lucky Jade ships in June!

I'm very happy to announce that our new baby...baby chai by Lucky Jade is coming is arriving in June! We lauched in March in NY to rave reviews. The collection is made of eco-friendly bamboo/cotton fleece and cotton prints featuring elephants, monkeys, and owls. Pieces include bath wrap, stroller blanket, bunting bag, hooded towel, footies, converters, & a new cloth diapering system.

Everyone has asked me why a new line? Why cloth diapers?

I have always felt that we needed a lifestyle brand under the Lucky Jade umbrella and now we have it! Both the baby chai by Lucky Jade and the Lucky Jade collections are designed to work together, and they complement each other nicely. The colors are mellow and sophisticated with great attention to detail. The materials are soft, eco-friendly and luxurious.

Now for the diapers....I saw a void in the market for a luxurious diaper that was well packaged, aesthetically pleasing, and soft to the touch. Just like when I started Lucky Jade, I was not happy with the designs I was seeing out there and decided to take matters into my own hands.

The entire baby chai by Lucky Jade collection is packaged and perfect for gifting! The collection arrives in June and we are so excited!

New Fall 2010

Fall 2010 is here and we are happy to announce that we are expanding our girls collection up to size 8 and have introduced our first toddler boys collection. Deep rich colors meet fun and easy styles with Moroccan tile influences. My favorite pieces are the girls dresses. The bamboo is so rich in color and styles so well, I just can't enough of it!

Our infant collection continues to be strong and we have new animals to add to what I like to call the Lucky Jade "zoo". New elephants in neutrals look fabulous on our new ivory collection, sure to be hit after the great success of our Giving Tree grouping this Spring. Stylewise, we are introducing a footie in our infant collection for the first time.

Now, to my personal favorite collection...the cotton/cashmere. Three new animals have arrived so stay tuned!
